Platinum Developments Implements First Fully Integrated Solar, Storage & EV Charging System in St. Kitts and Nevis

NEVIS, West Indies, September 8, 2025
Platinum Developments is pleased to announce the completion of the first fully integrated solar, storage, and electric-vehicle charging solution at Palm Garden Nevis. The system powers the main villa, guest cottage, commercial kitchen, restrooms, and entertainment center entirely with clean energy.

The project integrates Jinko Solar panels with Sigenergy batteries, inverters, and EV chargers, delivering around-the-clock reliability. The project also demonstrates an innovative use of Ford’s F-150 Lightning and its bidirectional charging capability as a backup generator. As a first for Nevis, the team successfully charged an electric vehicle directly from solar power, showcasing how renewable energy can transform both homes and businesses across the region.

“What makes this solution unique is that it integrates storage and bidirectional EV/DC charging in a single stack,” said Winston Patrick Watt, Head of the Solar Division at Platinum Developments. “The user-friendly MySigen mobile app provides real-time visibility into production, consumption, and the state of charge for both the battery system and the vehicle. The most impressive feature is the Sigenergy Gateway: its true zero-millisecond transfer from grid power to sustainable energy keeps sensitive equipment protected from inrush currents when power returns.”

“This project is more than a milestone; it is a vision for how the Caribbean can lead the world in sustainable living. By integrating solar, storage, and EV technology into luxury developments, we are not just powering homes and businesses; we are building a model of resilience and efficiency that can redefine the region’s future,” said Joseph Katsman, Vice President of Platinum Developments. “By deploying integrated systems that energize villas, commercial kitchens, and electric vehicles, we are setting a new regional benchmark for efficiency and resilience.”

Mac Kee L. France, General Manager of Palm Garden Nevis, emphasized the importance of guest experience:

“Our guests expect seamless comfort, and uninterrupted power is a non-negotiable part of that experience. By implementing best-in-class solar technology, we are ensuring 100% uptime while simultaneously reducing our carbon footprint. It is a point of pride for Palm Garden Nevis that luxury and sustainability now go hand in hand.”
